Which class should I choose?

Mat & More: Details

At DETAILS classes your instructor will make efforts to introduce and/or re-visit fundamental concepts which apply to all Pilates exercises in addition to leading an overall workout for the day.   The better your conceptual understanding of the principles/intent behind the exercises, the more you will be able to progress while challenging yourself in a safe manner.  A slightly slower paced class than “Re-Mix,” DETAILS classes are designed for practitioners of any skill level to take a little extra time to work on the details of form, alignment, and deeper more effective connections in the body.  DETAILS classes still vary greatly from day to day, incorporating different props, and mixing up the content, such as how we might challenge your core strength, balance, or coordination… or maybe doing more arms on one day, or extra abs on another.

Mat & More: Re-Mix
Mixed Level, Mixed Content, Mixed Props

Continually mixing it up in content, props, exercises, and emphasis, while providing a mix of variations/options at different points in class.  Each day is different in the types of challenges and the scope of exercises covered.  Research shows we need variety for our brains/bodies!

Mat & More: KICKASS

KICKASS is more of an attitude than a “level” in terms of pacing and trying to cram as much into class as possible.  An instructor will guide you through a full body workout, which from day to day will vary in props, exercises, and emphasis, but with an overall attitude of continuing to push forward without a lot of extra discussion, modifications or debate. The instructor will be operating under the assumption that you will continue to make your own best choices for your body within the context of the day’s class.  If you’re concerned about being able to keep up with a class, or not understanding the form/intent of the exercises presented, then attend Details or Re-Mix class formats.  If you have never taken a Pilates class before, this is likely not the class for you.

Pilates Circuit Training

All Circuit Training Classes:

Single Class:  $30 at the door OR 1.5 FLEX Credits  Student/Teacher ratio is 6:1 or less
Discounts are available through purchasing FLEX Credits in bulk or by reserving at least 4 consecutive weeks at a time for same class days/times to be repeated, with no cancellation options.  Please visit our Pricing page for more information.

The perfect full-body workout, featuring opportunities to workout on the BIG MACHINES, such as the REFORMER, the CADILLAC, the Combo Split-Pedal CHAIR, the CoreAlign, the MOTRs, and props such as balls, rollers, rings, and bands of all sorts of shapes and sizes.  Led by fabulous instructors with a thorough knowledge of the Pilates repertoire, the classes are designed for up to 6 students.

Because research shows our brains and bodies need a variety of kinds of stimulation and challenge in order to get stronger, concerted efforts are made for class to be different every time you come.

The small group setting of Pilates Circuit Training enables you to receive a fair amount of individual attention at a much cheaper rate than private lessons. Note:  Some particular class days/times may be expanded up to 8 or 9 students if 2 teachers are available to work with the group at that time, which will actually reduce the student/teacher ratio to 5:1 or less.  In general, most circuit training classes are designed for up to 6 people.

With several options for how to pay/reserve classes, you’re also eligible for higher discount rates for certain types of registrations/reservations within two different frameworks:  “Old School” and “FLEX Credits.”

Beginner Series - Pilates Circuit Training

While all classes named “Pilates Circuit Training” are essentially “mixed level” classes, any class in the calendar listed as “Beginner’s Series” is designed to be a slower paced class for students with no/little/limited experience on Pilates equipment (especially in relation to the machines which are spring-loaded or bungee cord-loaded).  If you see pieces of equipment listed in the class title for the day, it indicates that most of that day’s class will be taught on those pieces of equipment:  E.g. “Beginner’s Series – Pilates Circuit Training – Reformer & Chair”

If the class title has “TRIO” in it, meaning it is limited to only 3 people, then the price for a single class is increased to $40 or 2 FLEX Credits:  E.g. “Beginner’s Series TRIO – Pilates Circuit Training – Cadillac”

Old School

“OLD SCHOOL” Discount Options help you “LOCK IN” the same day/time class to be held for you no matter what.  Note:  Reservations through the “Old School” track cannot be cancelled or refunded. 

Rates if paying for/reserving at least 4 consecutive weeks at a time for same class days/times to be repeated – no cancellation options:
  • $26 per class if enrolled in 1x per week
  • $25 per class if enrolled in 2x per week
  • $24 per class if enrolled in 3x per week
  • $23 per class if enrolled in 4x per week
  • $22 per class if enrolled in 5x per week
Rates if paying for/reserving at least 8 consecutive weeks at a time for the same class days/times to be repeated – no cancellation options:
  • $24 per class if enrolled in 1x per week
  • $23 per class if enrolled in 2x per week
  • $22 per class if enrolled in 3x per week
  • $21 per class if enrolled in 4x per week
  • $20 per class if enrolled in 5x per week

Openings subject to availability, but you can select your start date!  To enroll in the “Old School” track, please contact the studio to pay/register.  With our new reservation system, we can set up clients to start an “Old School” discount package of classes at ANY day of the month, as long as there is a spot available in the class for at least 4 consecutive weeks from your start date.

If you’re waiting for a “regular” space to be available in a specific class, use “FLEX Credits” to reserve spots in a wide variety of classes through the online system.  Just be sure to let staff know to keep your name on a “waiting list.”  To enroll in the “OLD SCHOOL” system, studio staff members need to put your reservations in the system to override the variables set for the folks using FLEX Credits.

FLEX Credits
Discount Options give you LOADS of FLEXIBILITY!
  • ONLINE FLEX SCHEDULING w/48 Hours in Advance Cancellation Option
  • FLEX TUITION:  1.5 credits per person per class
  • Schedule online with up to 48 hour advance cancellation option.
  • “FLEX Credits” are kind of like using coupons at the fair, but the cost of those coupons varies, depending on the rate at which you purchased your “CREDITS”

For example, a PILATES CIRCUIT TRAINING class costs:

  • $30 per class if credits purchased @ basic $20 rate
  • $27 per class if credits purchased @ $18
  • $19.50 per class if credits purchased @ $13

SINGLE CLASS rates can be deducted at the door from pre-paid FLEX Credits on your account, even if you had not stopped to make an advance reservation in a class, as long as there is still space available in the class when you arrive.

FLEX Credits can be purchased in many different increments, including MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP PACKAGES, and large discount packages with 1 year expiration. Extra discounts on larger COMMITMENT packages with expiration at the end of the calendar year are available for purchase through March 1st.  The very largest packages are not available for online purchase, and must be purchased from staff members who will chat with you to be sure you have a viable plan to use up your FLEX Credits before they expire.  FLEX Credits can be used to pay for any kind of class/appointment at Pilates Works.

To ensure there will be a spot for you in any group class, we recommend using the online Tula reservation system or the Pilates Works iPhone app.  If you need some one-on-one time with staff to learn how to do so, please don’t hesitate to set a time for some technology coaching.

If you prefer to purchase your package in person and have the studio track it for you, we will set up a Tula account for you which is NOT linked to your e-mail address or phone number.  If you prefer to be able to reserve/access your account to be able to track your credits/attendance at your own convenience, then your Tula account will need to be linked to a designated personal e-mail address, for which you must set your own password.

PRE-REGISTRATION “HEADS UP” – If you want a regular spot in a particular day/time class held for you, it may require your teacher overriding the system to make some of your reservations at your request.  For example, let’s say Joe Pilates and his wife Clara Pilates have decided to take Pilates Circuit Training together at 7 am on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and they’ve each signed up for a package of 10 FLEX Credits, but they want their spots held for the next 3 months.  If they went through our online scheduling system, they’d only be able to pre-register for the first 4 weeks on their own, because they wouldn’t have enough credits already purchased to hold their spots in the full 12 weeks.  But our staff can override those limitations to hold the full 12 weeks for you, and then prompt you to pay each time your credits run out.  Even if you need studio staff to hold reservations far in advance for you, it’s always possible for you to go in to cancel/remove reservations on your own, as long as you agree to have your e-mail address linked to your Tula account and you create your own password.

REMINDER:  When paying with FLEX Credits, if you’re not sure about your schedule on a particular day, you might be better off removing yourself from the class list before the 48-hour cancellation window and then waiting until the last minute to register again.  For example, you could wait until the night before or morning of the class, or even wait until you’re about to leave work/home, get online to double check there’s still a spot open, and then quick set up your reservation before you head over.

Worried about getting started?

Doing a couple of private personal training sessions to learn about the equipment is often a great way to start your Pilates journey.  Or just scheduling a TOUR to learn more is another wonderful option.

Want other class time options?

If you’re wanting to work out with a group of friends, and you’re not seeing classes on the schedule which make sense for your mutual schedules, please contact us directly and we’ll see what we can do.  If we have availability of teacher/equipment in a window which matches windows of availability for you and your friends, we could potentially add it into the schedule as a new Pilates Circuit Training class.

Schedule in "Real Time"

Regularly checking the Studio Calendar through the website or the Pilates Works FREE iPhone app gives you the ability to see our schedule changes hit “LIVE” in “REAL TIME” and you may find options appear/disappear based on teacher availability and changes in client schedules.  Since many personal training appointments are hidden from the public calendar, as those clients make adjustments to their schedules, we are able to add/subtract classes on the fly, and open up spots to others.  We are even able to schedule additional “Pilates Circuit Training” or “MOTR” or “CoreAlign” classes as space/equipment frees up for various reasons, and you might be able to fit in a class at a time which wasn’t previously on the schedule.  Because we plan to take full advantage of this system capability, we will no longer be posting any regular class days/times within text/class descriptions on other parts of the website or in printed fliers.

CoreAlign Classes

The CoreAlign is an amazing piece of equipment which integrates ideas from functional fitness, physical therapy, and Pilates into a remarkable and challenging workout.  While opportunities to work on the CoreAlign are often included during Pilates Circuit Training classes and Personal Training Sessions (privates/duets/trios), for guaranteed CoreAlign time, sign up for a CoreAlign Connections or Core & More class:

CoreAlign Connections

Single Class $40 at the door OR 2 FLEX Credits
A full body workout on the CoreAligns.  Participation in the CoreAlign Connections class is limited to 3 clients (3 CoreAligns are available), which is also why it costs a bit more.  As part of your warm up or cool down, your instructor may include a few exercises/stretches on a mat.

Core & More
(CoreAligns & MOTRs circuit training)

Single Class $30 at the door OR 1.5 FLEX Credits
A group equipment class limited to 6 people, combining work on the MOTRs and the CoreAligns in the same class session. Clients alternate between working on the CoreAlign and the MOTR, for a variety of strengthening, stretching, and cardio burst challenges.  See other MOTR descriptions under MOTR Classes.

MOTR Classes
All MOTR Classes:

The MOTR (Movement On The Roller) classes combine elements of resistance training, functional fitness, Pilates, balance challenges, cardio bursts, agility exercises, and more, to create a full body workout!

The VRM’s (Variable Resistance Modules) allow you to set cord resistance at three different resistance levels, to create more challenge OR more assistance, depending on the specific exercise and your individual strengths/weaknesses.

The MOTR is a state-of-the-art piece of professional equipment produced by Balanced Body, and we’ve fallen in love with it because of how incredibly versatile it is.  While opportunities to workout on the MOTR are rotated into Pilates Circuit Training and Personal Training Sessions (privates/duets/trios), for dedicated time on the MOTRs it’s best to sign up for separate MOTR classes.

MOTR Classes are now offered 3 ways:

  1. MOTR 3D Workout –   A thorough, three dimensional workout, moving in all planes and levels in space, with and without weight resistance.  Student/Teacher ratio is 8:1 or less
  2. MOTR Cardio Dance Party (set to music) – Like the MOTR 3D Workout, but pumped up to move in repeatable rhythmic patterns to music!  Student/Teacher ratio is 7:1 or less
  3. Core & More – A MIX class on the MOTRs and the CoreAligns!  Student/Teacher ratio is 6:1 or less

Note:  There may be occasions over the vacation breaks when individual instructors will accept appointments for personal training for privates, duets, or trios, but you must make arrangements with your instructor (or put in a request if you’re looking for a temporary appointment or temporary workout partners).
